Privacy Policy

BuilderBias LLC (“BuilderBias,” “we,” “us”) builds products on the premise that personal AI should be private by design. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and the rights you have over your data.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to the websites at builderbias.com and its subpages, and to our client applications — including HALIO (desktop and mobile), and any public demos or concept pages for Alignd and Echō (the “Services”).

2. What we collect

Our websites

When you visit one of our websites, our hosting provider records standard request logs that may include your IP address, browser type and version, referring URL, and the pages you viewed. These logs are used to operate and secure the site and are retained for no longer than operationally necessary. We do not currently run third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting scripts.

Contact email

If you email us (for example, to request early access), we receive the email address you sent from and the contents of the message. We use this solely to respond to your request and to maintain a record of correspondence.

Client applications (HALIO)

HALIO is an offline-first application. Your conversations, model prompts, and the model's responses are stored only on your device, in application-scoped storage (for example, IndexedDB on desktop, AsyncStorage on iOS). BuilderBias does not receive, have access to, or store the content of your HALIO sessions.

HALIO does make a small number of outbound network requests on its own behalf:

• On first launch (or when you explicitly download a model), HALIO fetches model weights from the distributor — for example, Hugging Face. Your device's IP address is visible to that distributor in accordance with their own policies.
• If you click “Check for updates,” HALIO opens our public releases page in your default browser. That request is logged by GitHub (our release host) in accordance with their privacy policy.

HALIO does not transmit your prompts, chat history, or any content of your conversations over the network at any point.

Notifications (HALIO for iOS)

HALIO can post local notifications when a reply finishes while the app is in the background. These notifications are generated and delivered entirely by iOS on your device. No content is sent to an external server, including Apple Push Notification service.

3. What we don't collect

• We do not collect the content of your conversations with any BuilderBias product.
• We do not collect personal information for advertising or for sale to third parties.
• We do not use your prompts or AI-generated output to train any model.
• We do not run third-party advertising networks or behavioral trackers on our site.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Our websites do not currently set tracking cookies. Basic technical cookies may be set by our hosting platform for CSRF protection and load-balancing. If we add analytics or other cookie- dependent services in the future, we will update this Policy before doing so and, where required by law, seek your consent.

5. Third-party services

Where we rely on third parties, we do so minimally and transparently. Current third parties:

• Hugging Face — distributes the model weights HALIO downloads on first run. See huggingface.co/privacy.
• GitHub — hosts our public release artifacts and landing page (where applicable). See GitHub's privacy policy.
• Email providers — when you email [email protected], your message passes through Google's systems, subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Apple Developer services — if you install HALIO on iOS, Apple may collect install metrics via the App Store or TestFlight in accordance with Apple's privacy policy.

6. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights regarding your personal information.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we collect very little personal information (see Section 2), in most cases our response to a deletion request will confirm that we hold no retained data about you apart from any correspondence you initiated. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The legal basis for our limited processing is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Services and communicating with people who contact us. You can exercise any of these rights by emailing [email protected].

Other jurisdictions

We will honor requests from residents of other jurisdictions to the extent required by applicable law.

8. Data retention

We retain email correspondence for as long as operationally necessary to respond and maintain a reasonable business record. Server request logs are retained only as long as needed for operation and security, typically a short period. We do not retain copies of your conversations because we never receive them in the first place.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we hold. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because HALIO keeps your conversations on your device, the security of that content depends primarily on the security of your device itself — we recommend keeping your operating system up to date and using device passcodes or biometric locks.

10. International transfers

BuilderBias LLC is based in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, any information we do collect will be processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to that processing.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-product or on the website. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the revised Policy.
